The decision to extend the mandatory evacuation for British families residing in the area was taken by the competent authorities of the British Bases.
The evacuation is extended until next Friday, as part of the safety measures in force.
At the same time, the British Bases cover the accommodation costs for a total of 286 people, concerning families and vulnerable groups of residents of Akrotiri, who are staying in hotels, as part of the measures taken to support the local community.
At the same time, schools in Akrotiri remain closed until Monday. At the same time, instructions are expected from the Ministry of the Interior regarding a possible extension of the mandatory evacuation for the community.
The relevant authorities of the British Bases continue to closely monitor the situation and evaluate the data in order to ensure the safety of residents and staff.
