According to the warning, the weather phenomena are expected to affect the island from time to time, while the total rainfall is likely to exceed 55 millimeters locally within a period of 24 hours.

The forecast in detail

Low pressure with a center in the south of Cyprus, begins to affect the island. Dust will be suspended in the atmosphere until Sunday, the concentrations of which will be increased from time to time.

Today, the weather will be mostly cloudy, while rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected, especially after noon. Sleet or even snow is likely to fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. The winds will blow mainly from the northeast, generally moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and temporarily strong to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort, while their gusts, especially on the north, east and south coasts, are expected to be stronger and reach up to 7 Beaufort. The sea in the west will be rough, however in the north, east and south it will be up to wavy. The temperature will be around 16 degrees inland, around 17 on the coast and around 8 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will continue to be mostly cloudy with rain and isolated thunderstorms. Sleet or even snow is likely to fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will be mainly north to northeast, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and transient, especially in the north and east strong to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. Later, however, the winds will turn west to northwest and will weaken, to become generally light to moderate and locally moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will gradually become generally rough. The temperature will drop to around 9 degrees in the higher mountains, around 12 on the coast and around zero in the higher mountains, where frost is expected to form locally.

On Sunday, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy, while rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected in places, mainly after noon. In the event of a storm, hail may fall, while on the highest peaks of Troodos it is possible that sleet or even snow will fall.
