TOM WARNING REGARDING SPECIFIC DANGEROUS VEHICLES AND PRODUCTS - RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, INJURY AND FIRE

The Department of Road Transport warns of the risks of electric shock, injuries and fire that may arise from dangerous vehicles, in an announcement to the public.

The warning comes after the TOM received information from the Consumer Protection Service, during the 4th week of 2026 on the website of the EU Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Non-Food Products (Safety Gate).

In particular, a risk of electric shock may arise from the Renault Trucks D ZE, D WIDE ZE (11/12/2023-29/07/2024 and 26/02/2024-11/11/2024) and T BEV (23/10/2023 – 18/11/2024) truck.

A risk of fire may arise from the Ford Otosan CARGO TRUCK, F-MAX TRUCK (20.8.2022 – 20.2.2024), as well as from the Toyota Proace and Proace City passenger van/light commercial vehicle (26/07/2025 – 09/10/2025).

The TOM also speaks of the risk of injury that may arise from specific vehicles or components. Specifically, the ALCAR Dezent TV 6.5×16 5×120 ET51 alloy wheels and the Michelin 355/50R22.5 X MULTI Z – CAI 124164 and 355/50R22.5 X LINE ENERGY Z – CAI 928196 tires (01/01/2023 – 28/02/2025) are noted.

It also warns of the risk of injury for the Suzuki DR-Z400 motorcycle (DR-Z4SM, DR-Z4S) (13/2/2025-14/10/2025), the Ford Ranger pick-up truck (27.6.2024 – 24.6.2025) and the Ford Transit Custom light commercial vehicle (04.02.2025 – 09.04.2025).

The Department invites manufacturers, agents, distributors of the manufacturer, importers and sellers, who may have placed or place such products on the market of the Republic of Cyprus, to inform the Department of Road Transport accordingly.

It is noted that, in case the products in question are made available in the Republic of Cyprus, the above economic operators must take all necessary measures to ensure that these products are recalled as provided for in the relevant legislation.

The Department also invites consumers, in case they own the above cars or motorcycles, to contact the manufacturer or the manufacturer's representative or distributor for instructions. Any possession of the above vehicles should be examined on the basis of the registration certificate of the vehicle they own (stem) and the information included in it (e.g. range of construction, type/model number).

With regard to the above accessories, where appropriate, the TOM invites the public to stop using them and return them immediately to the place where they have purchased them (if possible), informing the seller accordingly.

In the event that a manufacturer, representative, distributor of the manufacturer, importer or seller refuses to comply with the above consumer rights, the consumer is invited to submit his complaint in writing to the Consumer Protection Service through www.consumer.gov.cy website.
