The Municipality of Ierokipia was awarded by the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education as the Green City of Cyprus for 2026.
Specifically, it will be awarded two awards, the Green City of Cyprus award for the project "Use of recycled water from the Urban Biological Treatment Plant, in the category "Water Resources Management", and the "Green City of Cyprus" award for the project "Maintenance and supplementation with new trees and plants of the green spaces in the coastal area of Geroskipou in a period of water scarcity", in the category "Green Areas – Urban Biodiversity".
With this award, the Municipality of Ierokipia is automatically included in the Network of Green Cities and Communities", created by CYKEPE.
