REVOLUT SCAM - WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

 Filenews 4 February 2026

The Police again recommend caution to citizens, following complaints made, which are related to phone calls where the perpetrators present themselves as operators of a well-known online banking institution (Revolut).

Specifically, the perpetrators, who claim to be calling on behalf of Revolut, report to citizens that someone is trying to steal money from their account, while asking them for their passwords, supposedly to protect them. In case the victim provides this information, the perpetrators proceed to steal the available balances from their bank accounts.

The public is invited to be particularly careful and to take the following protection measures:

  • To NOT respond to the calls and instructions received from the perpetrators
  • Not to disclose to other persons, sensitive information such as passwords, one-time passwords, PINs, account details, identity details and bank card/account details
  • Citizens should verify the identity of the people who call them, by communicating through the official customer support channels, banking institutions.

In the event that any banking data was provided to the perpetrators during such a call, the public should IMMEDIATELY inform their Banking Institution to avoid unwanted use of their data and available cash balances.
