HORRIFIC SIGHT INSIDE THE BUFFER ZONE IN ASTROMERITIS - DEAD DOGS WERE FOUND IN A WATER TANK THAT WAS NOT FENCED OFF - Filenews 25/2

Horrific sight with dead dogs within the buffer zone in Astromeritis was recorded in a video published on social media by the Green Party of Cyprus.

The party reports that according to a video, an unfenced water tank overflowed, as a result of which defenceless stray animals were swept away and died a horrible death from drowning.

The material, he continues, is made public as it is, "because society must know the truth", while adding that "the fact that a water tank is located without basic fencing and security measures constitutes the most serious negligence and raises relentless questions:

Who is responsible? Why was there no fencing? Why were no preventive measures taken? We immediately call on the President of the Astromeritis Community Council to ensure without any delay that a thorough and fully transparent investigation is carried out, in order to determine the responsibilities for how and why the tank remained unprotected."

Furthermore, it calls on the Evrychou Police Department to proceed ex officio with a criminal investigation of the case and to bring all those responsible, without exception, to justice.

"The Green Party of Cyprus, in cooperation with the Party for the Animals of Cyprus, denounces the incident and demands:

Immediate corrective measures and complete fencing of the tank. Control of all similar infrastructure in the area. Attribution of responsibilities and exemplary punishment of the guilty. Negligence tolerance is over.

Protecting life — human and animal — is not an option, it's an obligation. We are sending a clear message in every direction: indifference and irresponsibility will not go unpunished. Society demands accountability here and now!", the publication concludes.
