In recent hours, various photos circulating on the internet have caused curiosity and intense interest, including a post by Stavros Kyriakos, in which an asymmetrical shape can be seen off the coast of Peyia.
After research on the well-known shipping platform MarineTraffic, where the position of commercial ships is recorded in real time, it was determined that this is the cargo ship IONIA, which flies the Cypriot flag and belongs to the company Salamis Lines.
According to available information, the ship is sailing from Greece to Limassol, transporting containers.
Due to the rough seas prevailing off the coast of Cyprus, the ship is moving within a stone's throw of the coast of Paphos, which makes it particularly visible from land and explains the question that has arisen among citizens regarding its identity.
However, this is a normal shipping route, with no cause for concern.
