THEY HELD AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING FOR THE GESY SOFTWARE

Doctors and other health professionals struggled to cope today as the IT system of the General Health System, although it did not present the same problems as in the previous two days, was still not working normally in the morning.

As a result, protests were provoked again on the part of professionals and patients, while the Minister of Health, Neophytos Charalambidis, held an emergency meeting calling on the Health Insurance Organization and the company that manages the GHS IT system to explain the situation.

In fact, as we are informed, the Minister clarified from the beginning his position that the issue should not be technically analyzed and arguments should be put forward for possible technical problems but, "solutions should be provided without delay, immediately and with the aim of ensuring the continuous and unhindered access of patients and professionals to the software".

In practice, of course, the correction of any problem presented by the system is the responsibility of the HIO and certainly of the management company, which had committed yesterday to the Organization that the software will return to normal operation at the beginning of next week.

It is recalled that the under-operation of the IT system was initially observed in October 2024 and the problems were recurring until the beginning of last spring. Then there was a relative improvement, however, in the last few days the software began to malfunction again for several hours per twenty-four hours, causing serious problems in patient service.
