THE PROFILE OF THE 610 TALENTS WHO WANT TO COME TO CYPRUS

The Ministry of Finance informed the Parliament about the profile of the 610 talents mainly concerned by Cypriot expatriates, who have expressed interest in the "Minds in Cyprus" platform and the "Opportunities For Talent" mechanism of the Ministry of Labour to move and work in Cyprus.

The plan provides tax incentives for integration into the labour market, while expanding the criteria and increasing the ceiling of the tax exemption for those who have been abroad for seven years.

In fact, 139 jobs from 51 companies in all sectors of the Cypriot economy have been published on the platform. According to the latest plan being discussed in Parliament, special tax exemptions are provided under certain conditions, which can reach 25% of the remuneration, with a maximum amount of €25,000.

According to relevant information forwarded by the Ministry of Finance to the Parliament, the "Opportunities for Talent" mechanism operates within the framework of the "Minds in Cyprus" Initiative, being an additional channel to connect Cypriot expatriates with quality jobs in Cyprus.

In fact, the talent opportunity platform operation connects professionals interested in building a career in Cyprus with available jobs, it is simple. Interested professionals who are abroad express their interest by filling out an application in which they record their personal details, their academic qualifications, the country where they reside, the work experience they have, as well as the professional sector in which they are interested in operating, which they submit through the platform.

So do the companies, which publish the available jobs. The Department of Labour then proceeds to match the qualifications of the persons who filled in the relevant information with the requirements of the positions. When the analysis is completed, then the Department of Labour informs the interested parties about the available career opportunities, providing the necessary contact information to contact the employers directly.

In detail, according to the data of the Ministry of Finance, 610 users are registered on the platform, of which 291 are in the United Kingdom, 29 in the USA, 21 in Greece, 15 in the Netherlands, 14 in Germany, 13 in Australia as well as other expatriates from more than 40 countries.

In total, 51 companies operating in Cyprus posted 139 jobs, while currently the number of active published positions is 103.

Specifically, there are 52 vacancies in the IT sector, 17 positions in finance and banking, 15 positions in engineering and technical specialties, eight vacancies in the energy sectorsix in the technology sectorfive in the commercial sector and four in telecommunications.

There are vacancies in the fields of cyber security, data analysis, data centers, legal and consulting services, consulting services, ANA, etc.

The ten sectors with the most demand based on the interest expressed by users on the platform are the following: Business Administration, financial and banking services, research and innovation, education, engineering, IT, artificial intelligence and robotics, marketing and communication, public administration, biotechnology-life sciences and creative industries.

Responded to 207 interested parties

To date, the Minds in Cyprus platform has responded to a total of 207 messages/queries from expatriates. It is worth noting that the platform, in addition to the Opportunities for Talent mechanism, includes information on the implementation of the Action Plan approved by the Council of Ministers in May 2025, the Information Hub with the collection of critical information to facilitate repatriation, information on the events that have taken place and will take place in the future, as well as the possibility of sending a message to communicate with its implementing bodies and/or resolving questions.
