The implementation of the great project of creating a modern four-lane traffic avenue from the Tombs of the Kings in Kato Paphos to the Coral Bay in Pegeia, is the big bet of the local authorities with the advent of 2026. Government departments, scholars and local authorities have now started coordinated the processes to make possible a project of major importance that has been on paper for many years.
The aim is to create a modern quadruple avenue, which meets all modern standards of safety and service to citizens. For this purpose, two meetings have already been held last year, the first at the Ministry of Transport and the second, at the Municipal Hall of the Municipality of Akamas, with the aim of coordinating the state services and the designers of the project.
The upgrading of this road artery and the creation, essentially of a quadruple avenue, is of major importance for the entire low-lying area of Paphos, the Mayor of Akamas, Marinos Lambrou, stressed to "F", given that it is a coastal area in which almost 40% of the tourist accommodation in the province is concentrated.
However, until now, he pointed out, the existing road artery does not provide ideal levels of safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, while in many places it does not even have lighting and sidewalks.
The goal that has been set is to start construction of the project within 2026, stressed Mr. Lambrou, expressing the will of the Municipality of Akamas to assist as much as it can for the faster implementation of the major project.
