STRONG WINDS IN PAPHOS - YELLOW WARNING FROM 8am TO 10pm TONIGHT

Strong winds reaching up to 8 Beaufort have been hitting the province of Paphos since early evening and continue this morning, creating difficult conditions mainly in open and coastal areas, according to meteorological officer Andreas Chrysstanthou.

Speaking on state radio, he said that aeronautical warnings have been issued and pilots operating flights to and from Paphos Airport have been informed about the adverse weather conditions, so that the necessary safety measures can be taken during take-offs and landings. So far, no flight problems have been recorded, however the competent services are on constant alert.

At the same time, the Department of Meteorology issued a yellow warning for strong winds, which comes into effect from 8 am to 10 pm. According to the warning, very strong to strong winds, with an intensity of 6 to 7 Beaufort and locally 7 Beaufort, are expected to affect the island, while wind gusts may reach up to 8 Beaufort.
