The flu did not let us catch our breath and as everything shows, it took off again with a second wave starting to appear in Limassol. In fact, the flu, this time, at least in the co-capital, seems to have reappeared along with covid-19, with the general hospital of the Province recording a significant increase in hospitalizations during the weekend.
As the spokesman of the State Health Services Organization, Charalambos Charilaou, told Filenews, "we are observing an increase in hospitalizations, mainly in the province of Limassol where the numbers in the last twenty-four hours have changed significantly."
"We had one patient with coronavirus in the hospital and today we have five and we had 14 patients with influenza A and today these patients became 25," said Mr. Charilaou.
"Of course, we expected that there would be a new rise in our cases because usually at the end of January and beginning of February we always have a second wave and it seems that we are now seeing it. As far as the activity of viruses in the Community is concerned, they probably need to inform us about the data from the Ministry of Health."
