The rains of the last few weeks may have quenched the thirst of the land, irrigated the plantations and created feelings of euphoria among the citizens who had not felt it for years, but in the most sensitive hydrological sector, in the dams, the situation is beyond disheartening.

A look at today's dam occupancy report of the Water Department is characteristic: On the largest dam in the province of Paphos and the second largest in Cyprus, the rainfall of whole weeks, passed and did not touch. Occupancy today at only 8.2% compared to 28.9% on the corresponding day last year.

At the Kannavi dam we currently have an occupancy rate of 9.9% compared to 29.9% last year and in Mavrokolympos today there is an occupancy rate of 34.3% compared to 60.4% on the same day last year.

In the dams of the Chrysochous apartment, things are in the same denominator. In Evretou the corresponding percentages are 11.3% and 24.4%, in the Argakas dam water is currently stored in the order of 6.1% of the capacity compared to 26.4% last year on the same day, in the Agia Marina dam there is an equality with 36.7% today compared to 36.9% last year and only in the Pomos dam we have a higher percentage this year (37.6% compared to 28%), which obviously has to do with the restrictions imposed on irrigation.

The only hope now, the snow that is now spreading for good in Troodos.
