A proposal for the creation of a public reading room that will serve pupils and students of Paphos, in the area of Anavargos, was submitted by the head of the municipal team of DIKO in the Municipality of Paphos, Agathi Savvidou.
In this area of the reading room, users will be able to find a quiet space for reading and will have a second option, as a change of study space in addition to the space of their home, he explains. Libraries do not attract pupils and students because of their strict style and because they close early for safety reasons. While a reading room, Agathi Savvidou argues, can win the bet of the student world, because it will be open until late at night. At the same time, it should have free internet access, it will have car parking, while in a separate area there may be a café for a break from studying.
The area of Anavargos, an area of the Municipality of Paphos with which many schools are adjacent, such as Apostolos Pavlos High School, Agios Neophytos High School, primary and private schools, is the ideal place for such a project, as it is also outside the city center with the intense traffic congestion, concludes Ms. Savvidou.
