NICOSIA - TAKING OVER THE EU PRESIDENCY BRINGS TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS AND BANS - WEDNESDAY 7 JANUARY

The Police announces that, due to the Opening Ceremony of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will take place on Wednesday 07/01/2026, at 18:30, at the building of the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) in Nicosia, various measures will be implemented regarding traffic arrangements and prohibitions.

Specifically, the parking of vehicles will be prohibited on Demosthenes Severi Street, on Gr. Afxentiou, on Michael Karaoli Street, on Lordou Vyronos Street, on Kosti Palama Street, on Omirou Street, on Anastasiou Leventis Street, on Evagorou Street, on Diagorou Street and on Vasileos Pavlou Street.

In addition, the Municipality of Nicosia, throughout the day, will not allow the parking of private vehicles in the two underground parking spaces of the old G.S.P. stadium.

It is emphasized that from 14:30 there will be road cuts around the area of THOC and accessibility will be fully controlled.

Drivers are urged to comply with the cut-offs and traffic regulations that will be implemented, as well as with the instructions of the police officers on duty.

Finally, it should be noted that by Decree of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works (K.D.P. 03/2026), the use of drones in the wider area of the T.O.K. and the Conference Center is strictly prohibited (the relevant coordinates of the ban are mentioned in the Decree). It is clarified that the period of prohibition applies throughout the Presidency.
