Heritage Weave is the name of the student enterprise of Agios Neophytos Lyceum that participates in the Student Enterprise program of Junior Achievement Cyprus. Heritage Weave creates handmade fashion items such as handbags and jewellery, inspired by traditional phytochemic textiles. The aim of their students and teachers is to combine contemporary aesthetics with Cypriot cultural heritage, offering products that are both modern, sustainable and culturally authentic. It is noted that Fythkiotiko is included in the UNESCO national list of intangible cultural heritage.
The company seeks to highlight the importance of tradition through creative design and entrepreneurship. The children proceeded to "marry" the cultural heritage of the place with entrepreneurship as through research they have done both online and at school it has been shown that many people do not know what the Fythkian weaving is.
In this context, they are organizing on Saturday, February 14 at 11am, in collaboration with the Association of Expatriates of Fyti, a presentation of the business at the cultural center of Fyti. On that day, visitors will have the opportunity to see and buy the products of the student enterprise but at the same time to tour the village and see up close the art of Fythkian embroidery. The products they created include women's bags and jewellery made with authentic Fythkian textiles using designs that may reflect the requirements of each customer individually. The students collaborate with weavers from the community of Fyti and the association of expatriates of the community.
