Pafos Live 20 January 2026
The images of shame that anyone who visits the Green Point in Agia Varvara, Paphos sees, are not only an insult to our culture, but are a direct threat to public health. Especially when this is taking place at a time when the Republic of Cyprus has taken over the presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Movement of Ecologists – Citizens' Cooperation, through the coordinator of the provinces, Mr. Andreas Evlavis, about a year ago, informed the competent services about the health bomb and the tragic situation of the green point in the area of Ag. Varvara, in Paphos.
The situation has gotten out of hand and now, the knot has come to a head.
There is a very serious Health Risk: The existence of dead animals inside and outside the area, combined with the intolerable stench and stench, creates outbreaks of infection that lurk serious risks.
The images one sees are simply tragic: Mountains of bulky waste and dirt have turned the area into an uncontrolled landfill, without any level of hygiene and safety.
Based on all of the above, we reasonably wonder:
- Where are the administrators of the green point?
- Will the EDA continue to remain apathetic?
- What measures will the Department of Environment take to restore the space and hygiene?
We expect answers to the questions, within a short period of time and immediate restoration of the space, to the standards it should operate.
