The burning of old materials in an open area in the area between the communities of Kissonerga and Emba, resulted in the destruction of a small storage area after the fire spread before it could be controlled.

The incident, according to the spokesman of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, happened on Thursday afternoon in a metal warehouse between Kissonerga and Emba. The Paphos Fire Station responded with two vehicles to extinguish the fire in the warehouse made of metal frame and tin, on a rural road between the communities of Kissonerga and Emba.

Inside the warehouse there were types of aluminium, timber as well as various tools. Part of the roof collapsed from the fire, while the contents of the warehouse were also destroyed before the fire was extinguished by the Fire Brigade.

From the examinations that followed, Mr. Kettis said, the fire spread to the warehouse from burning to an adjacent pile of waste material.
