A CENTENARIAN AND SMART OAK OF FYTI

The efforts of the tourism agencies of the Paphos district continue to upgrade the tourist experience and implement actions that will contribute to the transformation of the province into a smart destination. A key component of this policy in recent years is the digitization of information and the use of smart signs in monuments and other points of interest throughout the province.

Of particular importance is the placement of the smart sign for about a year now on a monument of nature that is more than 500 years old: The centuries-old oak of the community of Fyti.

In this impressive monument of nature, the many visitors of the community can now, after initially scanning the QR code, choose the language of their choice from their smart device, while they are offered a wide range of information options. In this case, information on the perennial oak, on the protection of forests in general, the advantages that trees offer to humans and nature, the life cycle of trees, as well as rich photographic material and videos.

In addition to this monument, in the last two years the installation of smart signs and the fifth phase has been completed, which includes 23 such signs in various areas and points of interest in Paphos, such as Geroskipou, Akamas, Chloraka, Choli, Salamiou, Simou and Drouseia, while the next phase has already been launched with more than 18 locations where this digital upgrade will be implemented.
