At the beginning of the new year, the redevelopment projects in the historic center of Geroskipou are expected to be completed, with the deputy mayor of Ierokipia, Andreas Siikkis, calling on the members of the Municipal Council to seriously reflect on the uses that should be given to the area.
As he mentioned, the issue of the creation and utilization of the "popular neighbourhood" has been on the table of discussions in the Municipality of Geroskipou for about 20 years. "It's not just that the city itself takes on a different character, offering a taste of life from the one we all experienced in our childhood," he noted.
Mr. Sikkis underlined that the popular neighbourhood can once again become a living part of the city's daily life, with its cobbled streets, small courtyards, potted flowers and the illumination of another part of the historic center.
At the same time, he stressed that the projects implemented have significantly changed the image of the area for the better and now the center of Geroskipou can function as the economic lung of the Municipality, offering incentives and opportunities to visitors to the tourist zone to visit it.
