The decision of the Forestry Department to place large stones and boulders in various parts of Akamas, blocking access to roads and paths, has recently been at the center of local news.
This move has caused strong reactions, especially from fishermen who used these points to reach the sea.
According to information from PafosPress, the Forestry Department cites reasons for restricting the passage of vehicles, such as four-wheelers and rented buggies, and controlling access to avoid fire risks, especially in autumn.
However, fishermen claim that they now have no way to the sea, as the stones, up to one and a half meters high, have completely closed the accesses that were used for years.
The issue has already sparked discussions and controversy, with those affected calling for a solution that allows controlled access without completely blocking them from the sea.
