MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway
On the Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, the Department of Forestry will carry out pruning and shredding of branches on the slopes of the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou.
During the period from 22 December 2025 to 29 January 2026, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the following day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and holidays, on sections of the Larnaca Airport - Paralimni motorway, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the execution of the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island, from the Pyla area to the Rizoelia roundabout, will be closed, successively for a length of 100m. each time, simultaneously from both directions, at eight different points.
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway
On the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, work will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the slopes of the road.
Nicosia Perimeter Motorway
From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Perimeter Motorway, Nicosia Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic to and from Andromeda Street will be conducted in the two southern lanes with two-way traffic.
Nicosia District
In Nicosia, on Nikis-Akropoleos Avenue, opposite the junction with 25th March Street, from Monday 03/11/2025 and for a period of approximately two (2) months, works will be carried out to widen part of Nikis-Akropoleos Avenue, as well as the construction of new sidewalks.
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.
On Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and parts of Tseriou Avenue, in Strovolos, from Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 12:00 noon, as part of the construction works, a section of Ag. Dimitrianou Street, approximately 250m long (at its connection point with Ippokratous Avenue), in Lakatameia, will be closed to traffic for the construction of a Roundabout. During the works, traffic will be diverted through Lysis, Lefkonikou and Neapoleos Streets.
On the Nicosia-Palaichori road, in a section of approximately 1.5 kilometers, from Saturday 06/12/2025, traffic will be diverted via a new bypass north of the existing road in two-way traffic, due to the construction works of the Nicosia-Palaichori motorway. Also, the existing road to Agios Ioannis will be closed and traffic towards Agios Ioannis will be diverted from the new junction of the road at the Malounta Roundabout. Traffic towards Malounta and the 2nd Regional High School of Nicosia will be diverted from the bypass of the existing road at a point 200 meters before the Malounta Roundabout.
Larnaca District
Within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, from 28/11/2025 to 31/12/2025, sidewalk reconstruction works will be carried out on Limassol Avenue, in Larnaca. The works will be carried out in the section from the intersection of Limassol Avenue with Charilaou Trikoupi Street to the intersection of Limassol Avenue with Nikiforou Foka Street. During the execution of the works, the left lane will be closed in sections, while traffic will be directed to the right lane using appropriate and approved road markings.
On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, the works of the 5th and final phase of the Project will be carried out, on the section of the road from the height of the Organized Oroklini Beach (Keripteron) to the junction with Pyla. During the works, this section of the road will be closed to traffic in both directions and traffic will be diverted via Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Oceanias streets, in Oroklini and Ithakis street, in Pyla. For residents and businesses in the area, appropriate arrangements will be made for access to their premises.
