MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway On the section of the motorway from the Pyla area to the Ayia Napa roundabout in both directions, during the period 05/11/2025–22/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and public holidays, work will be carried out on sections of the motorway on the central island to install emergency doors. During the work, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island will be closed, for a length of 100 meters at a time, at eight different points. During the period from Monday 24/11/2025 to Friday 19/12/2025, daily except Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, work will be carried out to cut/prune and collect acacias and other trees from the shoulders and slopes along the entire length of the Larnaca Airport – Ayia Napa motorway, from Larnaca Airport to the exit to Xylotymvos in both directions, including its junctions. During the execution of the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.
On the Larnaca-Famagusta motorway, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, works will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, as follows: (a) From 03/12/2025 – 30/01/2026, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and shredding of branches will be carried out on the slopes of the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and the Larnaca – Kofinou motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou. (b) From 08/12/2025 to 22/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, works will be carried out on the slopes on the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and on the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Lympia and at the triangles of Alethrikou, Klavdia, Rizoelia, Kosii and Lympia. On the Larnaca-Famagusta motorway, from Monday 08/12/2025 until Saturday 20/12/2025, from 19:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, works will be carried out to remove the existing asphalt surface and lay new asphalt surface, as follows: From 08/12/2025 until 11/12/2025, the section of the motorway in the direction from Paralimni to Larnaca, from the roundabout at the beginning of the motorway up to 500m. after the first exit leading to Kataspilon Street in the Municipal District of Ayia Napa, with a total length of 2.5 km, will remain closed. Traffic will be diverted throughout the entire duration to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage, through the emergency doors.From 12/12/2025 until 16/12/2025, the section of the motorway in the direction from Paralimni to Larnaca, from the Liopetriou exit leading to Agia Thekla Avenue in the Liopetriou Municipal District, up to 200m. after the Xylofagou exit leading to Michalaki Vrachimi Street in Xylofagou, with a total length of 2.1km., will remain closed. Traffic will be diverted throughout the entire duration to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage, through the emergency doors.
From 17/12/2025 until 20/12/2025, the section of the motorway in the direction from Larnaca to Paralimni, before the Xylofagou exit, at a distance of approximately 200m. which leads to Michalaki Vrachimi Street in Xylofagou, up to 200m. before the Liopetriou exit, leading to Agia Thekla Avenue in the Municipal District of Liopetriou, with a total length of 1.9 km., will remain closed. Traffic will be diverted throughout to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate with two-way traffic with the use of appropriate signage, through the emergency doors.
On the section of the motorway heading towards Larnaca Airport, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to the exit towards Dromolaxia, from Monday 08/12/2025 to Tuesday 09/12/2025, from 19:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, periodic road maintenance works will be carried out. During the execution of the works in the above section, both traffic lanes in the direction towards Larnaca Airport will be closed in sections for a distance of approximately 3 km. and traffic will be diverted throughout to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage. The exit towards Dromolaxia will remain closed and drivers heading towards Dromolaxia will have to head via the airport roundabout towards Dromolaxia. On a section of the Paralimni-Larnaca highway, heading towards the Airport Larnaca Road, from the Dromolaxia exit to the airport roundabout, on Wednesday 10/12/2025, from 19:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, periodic road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, in the above section, both traffic lanes in the direction towards the airport will be closed and traffic towards the airport will be channeled throughout from the Dromolaxia exit via the airport roundabout with the use of appropriate signage.
On sections of the motorway between the Rizoelia roundabout and the exit to Xylotymvos in both directions, including its junctions, from Wednesday 10/12/2025 until Friday 12/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning, clearing of signs and cleaning will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed sequentially for a distance of approximately 200 meters and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On a section of the Paralimni-Larnaca motorway, heading towards Larnaca Airport, from the bridge above the airport roundabout to the airport, on Thursday 11/12/2025, from 19:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, periodic road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, in the above section, both lanes of the motorway heading towards the airport will be closed and traffic towards the airport will be channelled throughout through the airport roundabout located below the bridge, with the use of appropriate signage. Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway On the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, work will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the slopes of the road. Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway On the motorway, in the section between the Rizoelia roundabout and the junction with the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, in the direction towards Nicosia, during the period 10/11/2025-11/12/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between the hours of 09:30-13:30 at noon, works will be carried out periodically to remove, move and reinstall signs. During the works, the left lane will be closed for approximately 1000 meters and traffic will be diverted to the right lane. On the section of the motorway between the Nicosia entrance at the junction with Athalassa and Limassol avenues (good evening traffic lights) and the Skarinou interchange in both directions, from Monday 01/12/2025 until Thursday 11/12/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. During the works, one lane of the motorway will be closed in sections. In any case, during the works, there will be appropriate temporary markings for the smooth flow of traffic. On the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Lympia and at the triangles of Alethrikou, Klavdia, Rizoelia, Kosii and Lympia, during the period from 08/12/2025 to 22/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, excluding weekends and holidays, work will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the slopes of the road. On the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, from the junction with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway to the Lympia junction in both directions including the exits, from Monday 08/12/2025 until Monday 22/12/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, work will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the slopes of the road. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes. On the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, in the right lane in both directions, on Saturday 06/12/2025, between the hours of 06:00 – 13:00, reflector washing work will be carried out. During the works, the right lane will be partially closed. On a section of the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, for a distance of one (1) kilometer before the Rizoelia roundabout, in Larnaca, on Monday 08/12/2025 and Tuesday 09/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and cleaning works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, the right lane of the motorway will be closed for a distance of approximately one (1) kilometer and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. On a section of the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, in the direction of Larnaca, from the exit towards Kosi up to the Rizoelia roundabout, the Monday 08/12/2025, from 09:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, horizontal marking works will be carried out as part of the periodic maintenance of the road surface. During the works in the above section, only one traffic lane will be closed for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will be diverted to the other traffic lane throughout with the use of appropriate markings. On the section of the motorway heading towards Nicosia from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Kosi, from Tuesday 09/12/2025 until Thursday 11/12/2025, from 09:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, horizontal marking works will be carried out as part of the periodic maintenance of the road surface. During the works, in the above section, only one lane will be closed for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will be diverted to the other lane throughout with the use of appropriate signage. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway During the period 22/09/2025 – 10/12/2025, work will be carried out to improve the entrance lane to the motorway, from Parekklisia to Limassol. During the works, the shoulder of the motorway will be closed for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will proceed normally, without the cutting off of lanes. On the section of the motorway between the Skarinou interchange and the connection with Athalassa and Limassol avenues, at the entrance to Nicosia (good evening traffic lights) in both directions, from Monday 01/12/2025 until Thursday 11/12/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. During the works, one lane of the motorway will be closed in sections. In any case, during the works, there will be appropriate temporary markings for the smooth flow of traffic. On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, in the Kornos area at the point where the dividing network is located, on Saturday 06/12/2025, between the hours of 06:00 – 13:00, on the right lane in both directions, reflector washing works will be carried out. During the works, the right lane will be partially closed. Nicosia Perimeter Motorway From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia – Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic to the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic to Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction. On the Nicosia-Limassol perimeter highway, in the right lane in both directions, on Sunday 07/12/2025, between the hours of 06:00 – 13:00, reflector washing works will be carried out. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections. Limassol Bypass On the weekend of 06/12/2025 and 07/12/2025, from 06:00 to 14:00, sweeping works will be carried out on sections of the Limassol Bypass in both directions. During the works, the right lane of the Motorway/Bypass will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, at all times, and traffic police will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using the mobile construction site system. Limassol-Paphos Motorway On the motorway in both directions towards Paphos and Limassol, from Thursday 20/11/2025 until Thursday 18/12/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, cleaning works will be carried out on the shoulders of the road, including the exits. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes. On the section of the motorway between the Konia roundabout and the Agia Varvara junction in both directions towards Limassol and Paphos, on Thursday 04/12/2025 and Friday 05/12/2025, from 08:00 to 15:00, culvert cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, one of the two lanes will be closed alternately and traffic will be diverted to the other lane respectively. On the Limassol-Paphos motorway, near the Avdimou junction, on Sunday 14/12/2025, between the hours of 07:00–11:00, cable pulling works will be carried out by a private company. During the works, the right lane will be closed and traffic in the direction towards Paphos, for a length of approximately 1000m and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia-Akaki Motorway On the Nicosia-Akaki Motorway in both directions, on Friday 05/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30-15:00, work will be carried out on the central island for the installation/replacement of reflectors. During the work, the right lane will be closed in sections and the work will be carried out using the mobile workshop method. On the Nicosia-Akaki Motorway, on the right lane in both directions, on Monday 08/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30 - 15:00, work will be carried out to wash reflectors. During the works, the right lane will be partially closed. On a section of the motorway in both directions, between the Kokkinotrimithia roundabout and the Anthoupolis roundabout, from Monday 08/12/2025 until Friday 12/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 -17:00, work will be carried out to install electronic variable message signs. During the works, in the above section, the left lane will remain closed for a distance of 600m. Nicosia District In Nicosia, on Nikis-Acropolis Avenue, near the junction with 25th March Street, from Monday 03/11/2025 and for a period of approximately two (2) months, works will be carried out to widen part of Nikis-Acropolis Avenue, as well as to construct new sidewalks. Also on Digeni Akrita Avenue, in Nicosia, from Thursday 30 October 2025, the works of the 4th and final phase of repair, maintenance and reinforcement of the existing culvert under the avenue, between Kleomenos Streets and the photo-controlled intersection with Kallipoleos Avenue, have begun, which are estimated to be completed on the morning of Friday 19 December 2025. In the direction from Palouriotissa to Nicosia, the right-turn lane towards Kleomenos Street will be closed to traffic. In the direction towards Pallouriotissa, Digeni Akrita Avenue will be open to traffic, since the smooth regulation of traffic has been ensured with the use of a temporary traffic lane. Traffic from Palouriotissa to Archbishop Makarios III Avenue will not be affected by the works. In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” project, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, Famagusta Avenue is included from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long, and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets. As part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place from 24/04/2025 to 12/12/2025: Kalavryton Street at its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue. Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who want to travel towards Larnakos Avenue are asked to use Kantaras Street, while those who want to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose. On Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and parts of Tseriou Avenue, in Strovolos, from Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 12:00 noon, as part of the construction works, a section of Agios Dimitrianou Street, approximately 250m long (at its connection point with Ippokratous Avenue), in Lakatamia, will be closed to traffic for the construction of a Roundabout. During the works, traffic will be diverted via Lysis, Lefkonikou and Neapoleos streets. On the Nicosia-Palaichori road, in a section of approximately 1.5 kilometers, from Saturday 06/12/2025, traffic will be diverted via a new bypass north of the existing road in two-way traffic, due to the construction works of the Nicosia-Palaichori motorway. Also, the existing road to Agios Ioannis will be closed and traffic to Agios Ioannis will be diverted from the new junction of the road at the Malounta Roundabout. Traffic to Malounta and the 2nd Regional High School of Nicosia will be diverted from the bypass of the existing road at a point 200 meters before the Malounta Roundabout. Larnaca District Within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, from 28/11/2025 to 31/12/2025, sidewalk reconstruction works will be carried out on Limassol Avenue, in Larnaca. The works will be carried out in the section from the intersection of Limassol Avenue with Charilaou Trikoupi Street to the intersection of Limassol Avenue with Nikiforou Foka Street. During the execution of the works, the left lane will be closed in sections, while traffic will be directed to the right lane using appropriate and approved road markings.
