 Pafos Press 23 December 2025

The Department of Geological Survey in a statement states that on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 03:45 local time, an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 on the Richter scale was recorded by the Department's seismological network.

The earthquake was centered in the wider area of Agia Marina Kelokedara, 20 kilometers northeast of the city of Paphos with a focal depth of 20 kilometers and was felt in the districts of Paphos and Limassol.

This earthquake is related to the two strong earthquakes (M5.2 and M5.3) that occurred on November 12, 2025 and the seismic sequence that began since then, with the generation of >300 earthquakes in the same area. The sequence is evolving smoothly, but this fact does not exclude the occurrence of other noticeable earthquakes.

It is noted that, on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 19:06, a magnitude 3.0 earthquake occurred with its epicenter in the Analiontas area, 18 kilometers southwest of Nicosia, with a focal depth of 45 kilometers, which was felt by residents of the Nicosia and Larnaca districts.
