CYPRUS IS A POLE OF ATTRACTION FOR ISRAELIS

 Pafos Live 27 December 2025

The numbers in relation to passenger departures from Israel to Cyprus this year are impressive. According to official data released by the Israel Airports Authority (IAA), Cyprus shares the fourth place with Italy but holds the first place in the number of flights from Israeli airports.

In terms of passenger traffic, Greece remains in first place by far with 2.2 million passengers. This is followed by the US with 1.6 million, the United Arab Emirates with 1.5 million. followed by Italy and Cyprus with 1.2 million. passengers on flights from Israel.

Cyprus has the largest number of flights worldwide from Israeli airports (Tel Aviv and Haifa), specifically up to 186 flights per week.

It is recalled, however, that based on the official data of the Republic of Cyprus, Israel is currently the second largest tourist market after the United Kingdom and the first in daily per capita expenditure of visitors.

Israelis stay less, compared to other destinations, i.e. they come for shorter trips due to the distance, but this keeps a significant part of the flow of visitors outside the summer tourist season.

According to expert estimates cited by Israeli media, the number of passengers from Israel in 2026 is expected to increase significantly, due to the relative calm compared to previous years (of the war). From 18,4 million passengers, in 2025 it is estimated that it will rise to 22 million in 2026 and may, as they note, break even pre-war records.

Cyprus, which this year saw a staggering 42.6% increase in arrivals from Israel, can potentially benefit even more, although, as noted in Israeli media reports, which destination will benefit and how much depends on a number of factors, from the regional situation to the availability of flights and a number of other factors.
