The Department of Meteorology issued a yellow storm warning at 11:55 on December 5, 2025, valid from 17:00 on the same day until midnight on December 6.
According to the bulletin, isolated but strong thunderstorms are expected to mainly affect the western and northern areas of Cyprus. Hail is likely to occur during the phenomena, while the intensity of rain locally can range between 35 and 55 millimeters per hour.
The bad weather "hits" in the afternoon
From 5 pm today, Friday, the weather is expected to worsen.
According to the meteorological officer, Andreas Hatzigeorgiou, the severe weather phenomena will be observed on the west and north coasts and possibly later in the south, while it is considered more unlikely that the east will be affected.
After midnight, no severe weather phenomena are expected.
Tomorrow, Saturday, according to Mr. Hatzigeorgiou, the temperature will rise to 20 degrees inland and on the coasts and to 10 in the higher mountains.
On Sunday, a further drop of two degrees Celsius is expected with rainfall initially occurring in coastal areas and progressively in the mountains and inland areas.
For the period between Monday and Wednesday, Mr. Hatzigeorgiou said that the forecast shows rains and possibly local thunderstorms.

The barometric low named BYRON is expected to affect the island from late afternoon. Dust will be suspended in the atmosphere from time to time.

The sea will be a little rough to rough. The temperature will drop to 10 degrees inland, around 14 on the coast and 6 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow, the weather will gradually become cloudy, and local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly after noon. Hail is also likely to fall in a storm. Winds will blow east to southeast and locally southwest, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and locally strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be up to rough. The temperature will rise to around 20 degrees inland and on the coasts and to 10 degrees in the higher mountains.
On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday the weather will be mostly cloudy with local rains and isolated thunderstorms. Hail may also fall in a storm.
On Sunday, the temperature will drop, while until Tuesday it is not expected to change appreciably, to fluctuate slightly below the average climatic values.
