The Cyprus Ports Authority, as part of its environmental and social actions, is today organizing a seabed cleaning campaign at the Port of Paphos. The action will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning, with the participation of professional divers, the Municipality of Paphos, the Department of Environment, the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, the Paphos Fishermen's Association, the Center for AKTI Studies, the American University of Beirut in Paphos, the Atlas Academy, volunteers, students and citizens who love the sea and want to actively contribute to a cleaner environment.
The objectives of the Campaign, it is emphasized, are the removal of waste and dangerous objects from the seabed of the port, the protection of the marine ecosystem and the local biodiversity, the awareness of citizens and young people about the importance of marine cleanliness and the recording of the findings for scientific evaluation of pollution.
The Cyprus Ports Authority remains committed to maintaining clean, safe and sustainable ports, according to the announcement. With actions such as the one at the Port of Paphos, we are strengthening the joint effort to protect our seas and safeguard our natural wealth.
The presence and participation of citizens is welcome, both to encourage participants and to raise awareness about the importance of clean seas, concludes the ALK.
