Eighteen divers retrieved one ton and eight hundred kilos of garbage from the bottom of the Kato Pafos harbour in one hour, as part of the cleanup campaign organized by the Cyprus Ports Authority, according to an announcement by the AKTI Center for Studies and Research.

According to AKTI spokesperson Anna Tselepou, the sight was disappointing since among the garbage, 32 wheels from regular cars, 8 from motorbikes and 4 wheels from trucks were found.

The recording, she continued, was made by AKTI.

She also points out that the Cyprus Ports Authority was at the top of the organization, while divers from Cydive Cyprus, the Municipality of Pafos and the Deputy Mayor of Pafos, Angelos Onisiforou, participated in the cleanup.

Additionally, the help of American University of Beirut (AUB) students and young children from Pafos Fc Academy was invaluable in collecting the garbage, the announcement states.
