On three occasions in recent weeks, a pack of stray dogs devoured lambs and goats of breeders in the area of Anarita in the Paphos district.
Information from Filenews states that stray dogs entered on different occasions in the livestock farms of three breeders and attacked the herds of lambs they keep, killing several of them.
The livestock breeders of the area, upset, proceeded, as they told Filenews, to complaints, the last one on Friday, when the last raid so far by stray and wild dogs on a livestock premises took place. A relevant complaint, as they mentioned, was made to both the Kouklia Police and the Animal Police, the Veterinary Clinic and the Office of the Ministry of Agriculture in Paphos.
So far, they said, no action or action has been taken to conduct an investigation. On the issue, the livestock breeders of the Anarita area also informed the Paphos MP of DIKO, Chrysanthos Savvidis, who took the initiative to take immediate measures and take immediate actions on the part of the involved departments and services of the state to deal with the serious situation that is being created.
Mr. Savvidis told Filenews that normally the livestock farmers in the area are upset and ask for the intervention of the authorities before new attacks occur. The breeders themselves, he said, claim that the pack of dogs that attack their herds lives in the area around the Asprokremmos dam and called on the competent services to mobilize in time before the issue acquires more serious dimensions.
