METROPOLIS OF KYKKOS - PROCEEDS WITH A VIGIL AND LITANY OF THE ICON OF THE VIRGIN MARY DUE TO PROLONGED DROUGHT

The decision to proceed with a vigil and litany of the icon of the Virgin Mary of Kykkos was taken by the Metropolis of Kykkos, due to the drought that has plagued Cyprus in recent years.

According to the announcement, an All-Night Service will be held on Friday night, while on Saturday morning there will be a procession of the miraculous Holy Icon, the Merciful of Kykkos, to the Throne of the Virgin Mary, where a special prayer will be held.

Due to the prolonged drought that has been affecting Cyprus in recent years, with catastrophic consequences for ourcountry, the Holy Monastery of Kykkos announces that on Friday, November 21, to Saturday, November 22, an all-night Service (Vespers, Midnight, Matins, Divine Liturgy) will be held in the Katholikon of the Monastery.

During the Service, supplications and supplications will be offered to the Most Holy Theotokos, so that she may intercede with the philanthropist and "speedy to the understanding of her Son and God", so that she may "show mercy and give us peaceful rains for the recreation and fruitfulness of the earth".

After the Divine Liturgy, on Saturday morning, and around 9 a.m., there will be a procession of the miraculous Holy Icon, the Merciful of Kykkos, to the Throne of the Virgin Mary, where a special prayer will be offered.

The entire All-Night Service, as well as the Litany, will be presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Nikephoros of Kykkos and Tillyria, assisted by the Fathers of the Monastery and other Clergy, and the hymns will be performed by the Byzantine Choir of the Chanters of the Holy Monastery of Kykkos.

The devout faithful are invited to participate in the entire Service, which will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, so that "with one mouth and one heart, clergy and laity, we may beseech our God to give us what we desire."
