MAJOR ROAD WORKS

Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway

On the section from Larnaca Airport to the exit to Xylotymvos in both directions, from Tuesday 04/11/2025 to Friday 21/11/2025, daily except Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, work will be carried out to cut, collect and remove grass, as well as to collect and remove useless objects from the shoulders and slopes of the motorway, including its junctions. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.

On the section of the motorway from the Pyla area to the Ayia Napa roundabout in both directions, during the period 05/11/2025–22/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and public holidays, work will be carried out on sections of the motorway on the central island to install emergency doors. During the work, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island will be closed, for a length of 100 meters at a time, at eight different points.

As part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", in the period from Wednesday 19/11/2025 to Saturday 22/11/2025, works will be carried out to raise manhole covers and install the surface asphalt layer on the southern section of the Coastal Road, from the height of the Larnaca Nautical Club roundabout to the Athens Street roundabout, in Oroklini. During the execution of the works, in the above section, the traffic lanes in the direction from Dhekelia to Larnaca will be closed for a distance of approximately 1 km. and traffic will be diverted throughout to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage. During the works, access to and from the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road via Athens Road in Oroklini will not be allowed. Traffic from Athens Road will be served via Olympus and Bella-Pais Streets, in Oroklini.


Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway

In both directions of the motorway, including the junctions, from Tuesday 04/11/2025 to Friday 28/11/2025, daily except Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, work will be carried out on the shoulders and slopes, for cutting/pruning and collecting acacias and other trees. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out without hindrance in the traffic lanes.

From Friday 14/11/2025 until Thursday 20/11/2025, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 -17:00, excavation works will be carried out for the installation of electronic variable message signs, on a section of the Kofinou - Kalo Chorio motorway (A5) in the direction of Larnaca, 1 km. from the Kalo Chorio roundabout. During the execution of the works, in the above section, the embankment will remain closed for a distance of approximately 600m.


Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway

In both directions of the Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway, in the section between the junction with the Limassol-Nicosia Motorway and the junction with Athalassa Avenue, in Nicosia, from Monday 03/11/2025 until Thursday 27/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out by closing one lane at a time.

On the motorway, in the section between the Rizoelia roundabout and the junction with the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, in the direction towards Nicosia, during the period 10/11/2025-11/12/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between the hours of 09:30-13:30 at noon, works will be carried out periodically to remove, move and reinstall signs. During the works, the left lane will be closed for approximately 1000 meters and traffic will be diverted to the right lane.


Limassol-Nicosia motorway

During the period 22/09/2025 – 10/12/2025, works will be carried out to improve the entrance lane to the motorway, from Parekklisia to Limassol. During the works, the shoulder of the motorway will be closed for a length of approximately 300 meters and traffic will proceed normally, without the cutting of traffic lanes.

In both directions of the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, in the section between the junction with the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway and the junction with Athalassa Avenue, in Nicosia, from Monday 03/11/2025 until Thursday 27/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 05:30 next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out by closing one lane at a time.

On sections of the Limassol-Nicosia and Limassol-Paphos motorways, between the Skarinou exit and the Petra tou Romiou exit in both directions, during the period 03/11/2025-20/11/2025, from 20:30 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, except Fridays and weekends, work will be carried out to replace safety barriers. During the works, the right lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On Wednesday 19/11/2025, between the hours of 09:30 – 12:00, on the Limassol – Nicosia motorway (A1), opposite the entrance to the motorway from Kornos towards Nicosia, works will be carried out to install an information sign. During the execution of the works, the left lane of the motorway will be closed locally for approximately 100 meters and traffic will be diverted to the right lane.

On Monday 17/11/2025, from 21:00 at night until 05:30 the next morning, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out on the Nicosia – Limassol motorway towards Limassol. During the works, all three lanes of the motorway in the direction from Nicosia to Limassol, at the Latsia - Geri exit (Megalo Alexandrou Interchange) will be closed to traffic. Traffic from Nicosia to Limassol will be diverted via the GSP Roundabout on the old Nicosia - Limassol B1 road and drivers will then be able to enter the motorway via the Megalo Alexandrou Interchange.

On Tuesday 18/11/2025 and Wednesday 19/11/2025, from 21:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road removal and resurfacing works will be carried out on the Nicosia - Limassol motorway in the direction of Limassol. During the works, all three lanes of the motorway from Nicosia to Limassol, immediately after the Latsia – Geri exit (Megal Alexandrou Interchange) up to the Latsia weighbridge, will be closed to traffic. Traffic from Nicosia to Limassol will be diverted via the Latsia – Geri exit (Megal Alexandrou Interchange) to the old Nicosia – Limassol B1 road, and drivers will then be able to enter the motorway via the Viomichaniki Idalion exit.

From Friday 14/11/2025 until Thursday 20/11/2025, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 -17:00, excavation works will be carried out for the installation of electronic variable message signs, on a section of the Limassol - Nicosia motorway (A1), after the Skarinou exit. From Tuesday 18/11/2025 until Monday 24/11/2025, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 17:00, excavation works will be carried out for the installation of electronic variable message signs, on a section of the Limassol – Nicosia motorway (A1) in both directions, at the height of the Kornos refinery. During the execution of the works, in the above section, the embankment will remain closed for a distance of approximately 600m.


Nicosia Perimeter Motorway

From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.


Limassol Bypass

From Monday 13/10/2025 until Tuesday 18/11/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, logging work on burnt trees will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the Koilani – Vouni road. During the work, one lane of traffic of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.

From Tuesday 18/11/2025 until Friday 21/11/2025, from 07:00 to 16:00, asphalt pavement maintenance work will be carried out on a section of the Saitta – Karvouna road (E801), near Moniatis. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections at any time, covering a length of 100m. approximately and traffic management will be carried out alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.

On Sunday 16/11/2025, from 07:00 to 16:00, asphalt pavement maintenance work will be carried out on a section of the Parekklisia – Eptagonia road (E109). During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed at any time for a length of approximately 100m. and traffic management will be carried out alternately with the “STOP & GO” system, with appropriate signage.


Limassol-Paphos Motorway

On sections of the Limassol-Paphos and Nicosia-Limassol motorways, between the Skarinou exit and the Petra tou Romiou exit in both directions, during the period 03/11/2025-20/11/2025, from 20:30 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, except Fridays and weekends, safety barrier replacement works will be carried out. During the works, the right lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

In the Limassol-Paphos motorway tunnel, between the hours of 08:00-19:00, maintenance work on electromechanical installations will be carried out by the Department of Electromechanical Services, in the direction towards Limassol during the period 10/11/2025-14/11/2025 and in the direction towards Paphos during the period 17/11/2025-21/11/2025. During the works, the tunnel will be closed in one direction and traffic before the motorway tunnel will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic.

From Monday 17/11/2025 until Wednesday 19/11/2025, between the hours of 21:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the following day, reflective thermoplastic paint application work will be carried out for the maintenance of the roadway lines on a section of the Paphos - Limassol motorway (A6), in the direction of Limassol, in the section from the Kolossi exit to the exit of the new Limassol Hospital. During the course of the work, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections at any time for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.


Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia-Akaki Motorway

On the motorway in both directions, towards Nicosia and towards Akaki, from Monday 10/11/2025 until Wednesday 26/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 09:00 in the morning until 14:00 in the afternoon, works will be carried out by the Forestry Department to take care of the vegetation on the central island. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections and traffic will be diverted to the left lane, at a distance of approximately 2 km. approximately in both directions.


Nicosia District

In Nicosia, on Nikis-Akropoleos Avenue, near the junction with 25th March Street, from Monday 03/11/2025 and for a period of approximately two (2) months, works will be carried out to widen part of Nikis-Akropoleos Avenue, as well as to construct new sidewalks.

In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between its junction with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kallipoleos Avenue, from 30/06/2025 to 24/11/2025, works will be carried out to repair, maintain and reinforce the existing culvert. During the works, a section of one lane of Digeni Akrita Avenue in the direction of Pallouriotissa/Kaimakli will be closed sequentially for 50m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In addition, both lanes in this direction will be closed during the days when concreting work is being carried out and traffic will be diverted via alternative routes. Separate announcements will be issued for these cases to better inform the public.

Also on Digeni Akrita Avenue, in Nicosia, from Thursday 30 October 2025, the works of the 4th and final phase of repair, maintenance and reinforcement of the existing culvert under the avenue, between Kleomenos Streets and the photo-controlled intersection with Kallipoleos Avenue, have begun, which are estimated to be completed on the morning of Friday 19 December 2025. In the direction from Palouriotissa to Nicosia, the right-turn lane towards Kleomenos Street will be closed to traffic. In the direction towards Pallouriotissa, Digeni Akrita Avenue will be open to traffic, since the smooth regulation of traffic has been ensured with the use of a temporary traffic lane. Traffic from Palouriotissa to Archbishop Makariou III Avenue will not be affected by the works.

In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou Avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the light-controlled intersection of Tseriou Avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis is being abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its junction with Ergatikattas Street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis Street to and from Tseriou Avenue will be made via the temporary photo-controlled junction with Vasilissis Amalias Street.

In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” project, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, Famagusta Avenue is included from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long. and a secondary road network of 0.8 km long. approximately, consisting of a section of Kalavryta, Pafos, Madaris and Semelis streets.

As part of the "Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia" Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place during the period 24/04/2025-12/12/2025:

Kalavryta Street with its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street for their transition to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street for their transition to Larnaca Avenue, respectively.

Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to travel to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who want to travel to Larnakos Avenue are asked to use Kantaras Street, while those who want to travel to the Sopaz roundabout are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.

On Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and parts of Tseriou Avenue, in Strovolos, from Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 12:00 noon, as part of the construction work, a 250m section of Agios Dimitrianou Street will be closed to traffic. approximately (at the point of connection with Ippokratous Avenue), in Lakatamia, for the construction of a Roundabout. During the works, traffic will be diverted through Lysis, Lefkonikou and Neapoleos streets.


Limassol District

On the Trimiklini-Platra road, during the period 17/11/2025-28/11/2025, between the hours of 08:00-15:00, work will be carried out by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the road, from its junction with the main Limassol-Troodos road, to its junction with Archangelou Michael Street, will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted through Archiepiskopou Makariou III and Archangelou Michael Streets.


Larnaca District

The Pano Lefkara – Kato Drys – Vavlas road will remain closed to traffic due to the reconstruction works of the retaining walls before the entrance to the Community of Kato Drys, which will continue until Wednesday 19/11/2025. During the works, drivers coming from the Nicosia-Limassol motorway with destination Kato Drys should use the Choirokoitia exit and then via the Choirokoitia-Vavlas – Oras road and through the Community of Vavlas to reach their destination. The same route should be followed by drivers wishing to reach the Monastery of Saint Minas, which is located between Vavlas and Kato Drys, in view of the festival organized on the occasion of the feast of the Great Martyr on November 11. Accordingly, drivers from Lefkara to Vavla should follow a route via the Nicosia - Limassol highway and then via the Choirokoitia-Vavla-Oras road.
