JUST ONE EXAMINER IN PAPHOS FOR DRIVING LICENCES

At the Department of Road Transport in Paphos, one examiner remained, who can examine all categories of drivers amounting to about 3,000, which also explains the reactions caused from time to time by applicants for a license.

In total, about 25,000 tests are performed each year, while about another 2,200 tests are cancelled.

The situation in all provinces is as follows:

  • Four examiners serve in the Nicosia District (all of whom are authorized to conduct examinations in all categories).
  • Five examiners serve in the Limassol District, of which two are authorized for all categories, while the remaining three are authorized only in the car category.
  • Three examiners serve in the Larnaca District, one of whom is authorized for all categories, while two can examine in the car and motorcycle category.
  • Three people are employed in the Famagusta District, who perform the duties of both examiners and inspectors. Of these, two are authorized for all categories, while the third is limited to category BB.
  • One (1) examiner serves in the Paphos District, who can examine in all categories.

The above reports come from the Minister of Transport, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis, who cited the data in response to a question by the MP of Paphos of AKEL, Mr. Valentinos Fakontis.

The minister points out that in overtime to meet the great needs, the inspectors and/or the coordinator of the district offices (except for the Limassol District) also participate in the exams.

As for the examinations carried out each year, approximately 9,656 examinations are carried out in Nicosia, 1,969 in Deryneia, 2,875 in Paphos, 7,320 in Limassol and 3,676 in Larnaca.

In addition, in the year 2024, 782 driving tests were cancelled in Nicosia, 179 in Deryneia, 381 in Paphos, 591 in Limassol and 351 in Larnaca.
