The Police are investigating a case of online fraud, which resulted in the extortion of a sum of money amounting to €16.000.
According to the complaint, the complainant received a message on his mobile phone with the sender appearing to be GESY.
In the message, which was in English, he was asked to renew his profile, otherwise his account would be deactivated.
The complainant followed the instructions given to him, proceeding to account verification and registration of bank card details.
He later found that the amount of €16.000 had been stolen from his bank account.
The TAE of Nicosia continues the examinations.
