Animal Party Cyprus has called for a peaceful protest outside the Municipality of Yeroskipou on Thursday morning as stakeholders meet to address a court-ordered demolition of an animal shelter.
The organisation invited supporters to assemble at 11am on 20 November outside the municipality building, formerly known as Ierokipias Municipality.
A meeting of all stakeholders will take place simultaneously in the municipality’s conference room, according to the announcement issued on Wednesday.
The gathering aims to facilitate broad discussion among all parties involved to find an immediate solution to the issue, with particular focus on temporarily suspending the court order for the shelter’s demolition.
The Paphos Animal Shelter, which has operated for nearly 40 years, currently houses around 2,000 animals, including donkeys, horses, dogs, cats, goats, rabbits, hedgehogs, guinea pigs and a pony, and must vacate the land after property owners requested its return and a court ordered its demolition.
