VACCINATION PLAN REGARDING FLU AND/OR CORONOVIRUS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN DUE COURSE

 Filenews 6 October 2025

The process for this year's flu vaccinations is entering the final stretch. As early as last Friday, the personal adult doctors and paediatricians of the General Health System, following a relevant directive, began to submit vaccine orders for their beneficiaries, while the Ministry of Health announced the operation of vaccination centers in which citizens will be able to be vaccinated for the coronavirus and flu at the same time, if they wish.

According to the information received by the personal doctors of the GHS, in order to secure flu vaccines, orders are registered electronically and the submission period for the first orders for this year expires on October 8.

The distribution of vaccines in the clinics of personal doctors will begin, according to the announcement of the Health Insurance Organization on October 12. Therefore, personal doctors will be able to serve their beneficiaries after this date. Each personal doctor, in the first phase, can order up to 300 vaccines.

For the information of the citizens, it is stated that each personal doctor determines the way in which he will serve his beneficiaries.

Priority, according to the planning of the Ministry of Health, is given to the elderly, children, pregnant women, people with underlying diseases, health professionals and workers in closed structures.

Based on the vaccination plan, vaccinations, in addition to the personal doctors' clinics, will also be carried out in Vaccination Centers of the Ministry of Health (for COVID-19 and influenza, with the possibility of simultaneous vaccination), by the Home Care Service of OKYPY, at the Maternity Protection and Child Welfare Centers, but also by mobile units in closed structures.

It is recalled that the Ministry of Health has ordered 155.000 flu vaccines for this year. The first batch of vaccines was expected in Cyprus last week.

As far as the coronavirus vaccine is concerned, a total of 120,960 doses have been ordered this year for people over 12 years old, 8,640 doses for children 5 to 11 years old and 4,320 doses for children up to 4 years old.

As far as the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is concerned, the Ministry of Health has proceeded to secure the monoclonal antibody nirsevimab (Beyfortus). The administration of pneumococcal vaccines is ongoing.
