The submission of applications for financial support for first-degree students, regardless of age, began on Monday, October 27, 2025, according to the Committee of the Independent Social Support Agency (AFKS), which informs that the application period will end on November 27, 2025.
In a press release from the Presidency of the Republic, it is clarified that the sponsorship concerns a subsidy of university tuition fees or the payment of student housing rent.
It is added that the financial aid is paid directly to the universities for tuition fees or to the owners of the premises for the rents.
It is further stated that the Independent Social Support Agency, which this year completes ten years of continuous contribution, is extending its support from the academic year 2025-2026, including three new groups of students in the category of providing assistance without income and property criteria, who are graduates of the "Georgios Markou" School for the Deaf, graduates of the School for the Blind, and resettled in the occupied areas of Kormakitis and Rizokarpaso.
It is also noted that beneficiaries are also those affected by extraordinary events and therefore, students of families affected by the fire in the semi-mountainous area of Limassol last July, fall, under certain conditions, into category C.4 of the Emergency Incident, i.e. "Natural disaster / or general disaster that seriously / critically / drastically / substantially and directly affects the socio-economic situation of the family".
It is clarified that the conditions include total destruction of the family's residence, provided that it was used as their main and permanent place of residence, or destruction of the basic work (agriculture, livestock, premises) that has seriously/critically/drastically/substantially and directly affected the financial situation of the family. A basic condition is that any rule of the legislation governing the operation of the AFKS is not violated.
It is pointed out that the application should be submitted electronically, exclusively through the Agency's website: https://socialsupport.gov.cy, by the interested party himself and accompanied by all the necessary certificates.
