RUSSIANS, ISRAELIS AND BRITONS ARE PLAYING BIG IN REAL ESTATE MARKETS - 1,669 SALES IN ONE YEAR - MINISTRY OF INTERIOR DATA BY PROVINCE

A total of 1,669 properties were sold in the last year to foreign buyers, according to data submitted to the Parliament by the Minister of the Interior, Constantinos Ioannou, in response to a question by MP Christos Christofides, who called on the competent minister to inform the Parliament about the sales of real estate to nationals of European Union member states and to third-country nationals in the last year.

As for the sales of registered houses for the period 15/9/2024-15/9/2025, they amounted to 385 for European buyers and 577 for non-Europeans. Most of them occurred in the province of Paphos.

Land sales for the same period amounted to 218 to European buyers and 132 to non-Europeans. Most land sales to European buyers were made in Limassol, while to non-Europeans in Larnaca.

In the same period, 276 fields were sold to European buyers and 81 to non-Europeans.

In detail, in the province of Nicosia, it appears that the first place in foreign buyers is held by Greeks (403).

In the province of Famagusta, on the other hand, most foreign buyers come from the United Kingdom (220).

Of particular interest is the province of Larnaca, where most foreign buyers come from Israel, with their total properties reaching 850. Second on the list are the Lebanese, with 723 properties and the British third with 302.

In the province of Limassol, the first place is held by Russians with 846 properties, while in second place are the Israelites with 571 and the Greeks are third with 261.

In the Paphos district, most foreign buyers come from the United Kingdom, with a total of 890 properties, while Israelis are very close with 683 properties. Russians follow with 327 and Greeks with 257

Regarding the question about the number of hotel units sold, the minister notes that no sale involving a registered hotel unit has been identified during the period in question.

Regarding the question regarding the number of Natural Persons, available reports on foreign buyers (European and non-European) are posted on the DLS Portal, at the link https://portal.dls.moi.gov.c/stats_category/enimerosi/statistika/poliseon/.

Asked about the number of apartment buildings sold, the minister said that "for cases where the title has not been modernized with the registration of the apartment building, it is not possible to provide such information because they cannot be located. In cases where an apartment building with horizontal separation is modernized and registered, separate titles arise and are subsequently transferred for each unit (apartments, shops, offices, etc.). Therefore, it is not possible to give any information about apartment buildings."
