Pafos Live 16 October 2025
All indications suggest that 2025 will be even better for Cypriot tourism than the previous record year. In statements in Paphos, the President of the Republic, who welcomed the General Assembly of HOTREC, pointed out the timeless importance of tourism in the Cypriot economy and in Cypriot society.
"Let me remind you that in 2024 we had a record year, both in terms of arrivals and tourism revenues. The indications for 2025 are even better. We are optimistic that we can achieve a new record year. Beyond that, my presence here also proves the importance we attach, always in cooperation with PASYXE and the European Institutions, so that through the discussions that will take place, we can see how we are moving even further in this dynamic sector, both for the Cypriot economy and for the European Union in general."
He also said that it is important that in the new Commission, the President decided to appoint a Commissioner who deals exclusively with Tourism issues. "It didn't exist before, it's the first time in the history of the Committee. A Greek commissioner, in fact, with whom I had the opportunity, both I and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, to meet a few days ago in Cyprus."
He also revealed that during the Cyprus Presidency, the European Union's Tourism Strategy will be presented. "It is something that I consider a happy coincidence that will take place in the context of the Cyprus Presidency, taking into account the importance we give to Tourism."
