With its participation in the network of AI Factories, Cyprus strengthens its position on the European innovation and Artificial Intelligence map, reaffirming its commitment to invest in cutting-edge technologies, data and human talent, says the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy in relation to the country's inclusion in the network of AI Factories in Europe.
A statement from the Deputy Ministry states that these are innovative structures that will work closely with the respective AI Factories – in the case of Cyprus the Greek AI Factory "Pharos", strengthening national ecosystems and providing access to advanced computing resources for research, innovation and industrial applications.
"Pharos-CY aims to accelerate the development and adoption of reliable and high value-added innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions, in critical areas such as health, sustainability, culture and language," notes the Deputy Ministry.
Especially in the field of language, Cyprus and Greece will collaborate on the training and optimization of large language models (LLMs) for the Greek language and the Greek element, as well as in areas of common strategic interest, such as health and energy (clean tech).
At the same time, the Cypriot ecosystem of SMEs and start-ups acquires through Pharos-CY access to the supercomputing infrastructure 'DAEDALUS', advanced artificial intelligence tools and services, as well as specialized support for the integration of innovative AI technologies into their business activities.
According to the Deputy Ministry, the success of the Cypriot Pharos-CY proposal marks an important milestone for the creation of a strong artificial intelligence ecosystem in Cyprus, while it is another strategic step in the Government's planning for the utilization and integration of this revolutionary technology into the economy.
"By participating in the AI Factories network, Cyprus strengthens its position on the European innovation and Artificial Intelligence map, reaffirming its commitment to investing in cutting-edge technologies, data and human talent," the announcement concludes.
