Protests in favour of the Palestinians are taking place this afternoon in Nicosia, Larnaca and Paphos, on the initiative of the online group "United for Palestine CY".
According to the organizers, in Nicosia the participants will gather at 4:00 p.m. at Eleftherias Square and then march on Ledra Street, returning to the Square through Onasagorou Street.
In Larnaca, the event is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Europe Square (Finikoudes), while in Paphos the gathering will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Municipal Hall Square.
The Police will be present in the areas of the events to ensure their smooth conduct and provide facilities to the public, while calling on participants to comply with the instructions of the police officers.
As pointed out in the relevant announcement: According to the Public Gatherings and Parades Law 151(I) of 2025, the organizers must ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of the events, cooperate with the local authorities and the Police and comply with the imposed restrictions.
The legislation also provides that the Police may impose restrictions or disperse a gathering if it ceases to be peaceful or there is a risk of bodily harm or damage. In addition, in cases where persons conceal or alter their features, police officers may require the removal of the object or means that renders their physiognomy unrecognizable.
