For the second year in a row, the Wine Festival breaks all records! With more than 40,000 visitors, this year's event proved to be more successful than ever, filling the Limassol Municipal Garden with smiles, music, traditional flavours and – of course – plenty of Cypriot wine.
This year's celebration celebrated its 64 years of life with impressive events for young and old. According to the Mayor of Limassol, Yiannis Armeftis, the tickets sold reached about 40,000, while the free entrance for children up to 12 years old helped significantly in the family turnout.

"The level of events was excellent, but the most important thing was the responsible and civilized behaviour of the people. When a family can safely visit the Wine Festival, enjoy local flavours at affordable prices, have fun with quality concerts and traditional events, then we are talking about a celebration with substance and character," the Mayor told Filenews.
The success of this year's celebration was also based on a number of innovations. New themed pavilions, events for the whole family, and an enriched artistic programming kept the interest of visitors undiminished throughout the event.
Regarding the consumption of wine, about 1.5 tons of bulk wine were distributed, which was offered in commemorative bottles with a purchase cost of €1.50. As for the income of the Municipality, as the Mayor mentioned, it was also particularly important, confirming the success of the event not only on a cultural, but also on an economic level.
"Our goal is to maintain the folk character of the Wine Festival and at the same time to evolve it year after year, so that it remains alive, relevant and beloved by all generations," added Mr. Armeftis.
