With a European fund amounting to almost half a million euros, the Municipality of Akamas is proceeding with environmental projects to save energy within its limits. Speaking to Filenews, the Mayor of Akamas, Marinos Lambrou, stressed that the project is part of a European funded project for green energy, in the context of which he recently took part in a meeting held in Bridisi, Italy.
As stated by Mr. Lambrou, as part of the project, the Municipality of Akamas with a total budget of €456,350, will immediately start installing photovoltaic panels on specially designed canopies in the parking lot of the Municipal Stadium of Pegeia, with the ultimate goal of saving energy by reducing the cost of annual public lighting needs.
In this European project, he concluded, in addition to the Cypriot municipality, three Italian cities, Tuzi, Lezhe and Bridisi, are also participating.
