CRIME ROUND UP

 Pafos Live30 October 2025

During the operation, in a building under construction in the province of Larnaca, a total of 21 people were checked, of which 16 were found to be working illegally.

All 16 were arrested for flagrante delicto offenses and taken to a police station, where, after being questioned and charged in writing, they were released.

In addition, another person was found to be illegally on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, as a result of which he was arrested.

The above persons were employed by four different employers, who were summoned and presented themselves at the police station for examination of the case.

At the same time, officials of the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labour found violations and served the employers with a notice of violation for undeclared work.

The Police, in cooperation with the competent Services, will continue the targeted controls with the aim of cracking down on illegal and undeclared employment.

Filenews

The investigators of the TAE Limassol are waiting, for the results of the dozens of evidence that have been collected for the murder of 49-year-old Stavros Demosthenous.

Today, the 30-year-old convict, who is in custody, is expected to be brought before the Limassol District Court in order to request a new renewal.

For the case, as mentioned in the previous procedure, the investigators are looking for two more persons, who, as they claim, are involved in the case. Despite the fact that they are wanted persons, the authorities have not, for the time being, published their photos, which is surprising.

In addition to the telecommunications data of the suspects, which are under examination, the authorities are also studying the dozens of closed surveillance circuits from the scenes of the murder, while they are also waiting for answers from the scientific analyses of the various evidence identified.

As "F" is informed, within the next few days the completion of the report is expected from the ballistic examination of the two burnt shells found in the white stolen van, as well as other evidence from the murder scene.

As our newspaper is in a position to know, in the examination of the shells, a comparison will be made with evidence archived in the ballistic collection of the Criminal Investigation Service of the Police Headquarters, in order to determine if they are identical or related to some other criminal act that may remain unsolved.

The same information states that the luxury vehicle driven by the victim's 18-year-old son received at least eight shots, while some of the bullets ricocheted off, creating additional holes in the vehicle.

Revealing details about the purchase of the motorcycle in question, which was used in the escape of the executors of Stavros Demosthenous, were presented today before the Limassol District Court where the 30-year-old convict was taken again, for the renewal of his detention order for another eight days. His lawyer did not object to the request of the investigators of the TAE Limassol and the court ordered the renewal of the detention.

According to the examiner of the case, the 30-year-old convict called from the Central Prison to a specific person, instructing him to contact another person, in order to locate a motorcycle and transport it to a specific province.

For this act, the suspect would have a financial benefit. The examinations revealed that a 30-year-old suspect is a friend of the convict. As the first said, in early September he received a phone call from the convict, who asked him to find him a scooter-type motorcycle for resale, in order, as he said, to secure some money. The 30-year-old suspect claimed that due to workload he was delayed, however because the convict was persistent, he finally managed to buy a motorcycle from a specific person.

After consultation with the convict and another person, he transferred it to a point and sent the coordinates to the convict's mobile phone. The motorcycle, however, was located by the Police and taken to a Police Station. A confrontation ensued between the convict and the 30-year-old, as the former believed that the latter had deceived him. The 30-year-old told him that the motorcycle was spotted by the Police with the convict being enraged. Finally, when he was convinced that the 30-year-old H.S. was telling him the truth, the latter promised that he would find him another motorcycle.

As it turned out, the 30-year-old H.S., before buying the second motorcycle from the 44-year-old owner (former football player) in the presence of the 59-year-old suspect, contacted the convict again via video call asking for his approval. This is the motorcycle used by the perpetrators to escape after the murder of Stavros Demosthenous. The person who bought the motorcycle in question placed it in the same place where he had left the previous one, which had been located by the Police. As he testified, the next day he passed by the spot and found that the motorcycle was missing, assuming that it had been picked up by the person the convict would send.

Additional testimony states that the 30-year-old convict had contacted another specific person again from the Central Prison, giving him corresponding instructions to talk to a specific person to press to find a motorcycle to transport it to a specific province.

There would be a financial benefit for this act. The 30-year-old convict, during the interrogation, denies any involvement in the case. Four people are in custody for the case, while at the same time, two more people are wanted, against whom arrest warrants are pending and investigations to locate them continue.

An unprecedented incident is being investigated by the Police, members of which seem to have arrested a citizen who was a visitor to the Central Prison as if he were a convict and took him to the Court of Appeal to be tried.

As reported on our website, the Chief of Police ordered an investigation and requested a report of facts from the Nicosia Police Director.

At first, however, it seems that police officers put the citizen in a cage, believing that he was a prisoner.

The confusion was found when the police were counting the transported people and it was found that there was one person "left over".

The man seems to have claimed from the beginning that a mistake had been made, but without being heard.
