One after another, complaints are being filed with the Police regarding nudism on public beaches.
Following the complaint made last Tuesday and first revealed by PafosPress, today a new incident was recorded, again involving a naked man, which was reported to the Police.
The complaint was made by a family who was with their children on a municipal beach in Polis Chrysochous. According to what was reported, a man, completely ignoring the presence of families and young children, moved on the beach completely naked.
In a video obtained by PafosPress, the man is seen getting up from his towel on the beach, where he was with his wife, and heading naked towards the sea. A few minutes later, he calmly returns to his place, in front of the eyes of the bathers and mainly young children, as if it were something completely normal.
It is worth mentioning that, according to the complainants, the Police, despite being notified, never arrived at the scene, at least not before the nudist left the place. It is recalled that the display of public nudity is regulated by the provisions of the Criminal Code, which concern acts that offend public decency and social feelings. This behaviour can be considered an indecent act, which constitutes a misdemeanor and is punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years. According to the law, anyone who causes nuisance or insult to third parties commits an offense that may result in criminal or administrative sanctions. The Police usually intervene when there is a complaint or protest from citizens, while in isolated areas, intervention becomes more difficult, unless there are witnesses or visual documentation.

A 43-year-old undertrial was found dead in his cell in the detention center of the Paphos Police Department.
The location of the 43-year-old took place late at night, during a routine check. The man was found unconscious in his cell and the police provided him with first aid, but he did not regain consciousness. A doctor who was called to the scene pronounced him dead. The medical examiner Nikolas Charalambous was then called to the scene, who ruled out the possibility of criminal activity.
The legal autopsy on his body is expected to be carried out at a later stage to determine the exact causes of death, which are attributed by the Police to unnatural causes.
The unfortunate man was detained for malicious damage and cause for concern. He had already been brought before the Paphos District Court, which referred him to trial for November 25 and ordered that he remain in custody in the meantime.
Due to the lack of space in the Central Prison, however, the 43-year-old remained a prisoner in the Paphos detention center.
