A deafening noise, accompanied by a large white flash, disturbed the residents of Papageorgiou Christidis Street in Kissonerga, shortly after one in the morning.

According to information, under circumstances that are being investigated by the Pegeia Police Station, a young British driver lost control of her vehicle, which crashed into an EAC pole. The fall of the pole caused a powerful explosion, due to a short circuit in the power cables that touched each other.

Several neighbours immediately rushed to the scene, hearing the deafening noise, and found that the driver had exited the vehicle and was in a state of shock.  Luckily for her, the two front airbags deployed during the collision, which prevented her from serious injury.

Filenews

A search pursuant to a court warrant was carried out in the apartment of one of the two wanted persons of the attempted murder of the 42-year-old Ukrainian, who had previously been located and placed under guard and surveillance by members of the Police in Limassol.

During the search, two pistol magazines with a number of bullets, burglary tools, mobile phones, as well as documents, including IDs and passports, were found and confiscated.

According to a previous report by Filenews, the investigations of the investigative team of the TAE Limassol for the attempted murder of a 42-year-old Ukrainian businessman, which took place on Monday night (29/9) in the outdoor reception area of a hotel complex on the coastal road of Limassol, are in full swing.

Despite the testimonies so far and the footage from security cameras, the motive behind the crime remains unknown, with the authorities moving – for now – blindly. Information on financial disputes is investigated, but without excluding any possibility.

Investigators are in possession of videos from closed surveillance circuits, which they recorded at the moment of the fight. The incident allegedly developed simultaneously in two places and ended in a bloody end, with the perpetrator shooting the victim at close range in the abdomen.

The two alleged perpetrators of the shooting in Limassol, DAVID GAZZAEV, 44 years old, and STAVROS KRIARIDIS, 39 years old, are persons of Russian and Greek origin, with one having previously engaged the authorities in various cases. The 39-year-old also holds a Cypriot identity card. Arrest warrants have already been issued against them.

Anyone who knows anything that may help in locating them is asked to contact the Limassol Police Station on 25805057, the nearest Police Station or the Citizen's Hotline on 1460.

It is noteworthy that the victim's friends – who took him to the hospital – did not provide substantial information about the attempt or his professional activities, in order to contribute to the clarification of the case. According to information from Filenews, the 42-year-old's friends reported that a meeting was scheduled in the hotel's cafeteria, with them sitting at the next table. They are expected to cross the threshold of the Limassol Police Department within the day, in order to give written statements.

As our website wrote yesterday, the 42-year-old Ukrainian businessman often moved abroad, while he lived in the Neapolis area in Limassol.

The Police have re-released new photos of the two wanted persons, in order to collect information that can help locate them.

The moment of the shooting is on video

Around 19:00, the victim, accompanied by his friends, left the hotel. Outside the reception area, there was tension in two different places, resulting in a fight. According to the same information, the 42-year-old allegedly punched one of the perpetrators, with the latter pulling out a gun from a purse and shooting him in the abdomen. According to the same information, the moment of the shooting has been recorded by a security camera of the area. Immediately afterwards, everyone involved fled, with the victim's friends taking him to the hospital.

A shell casing from a firearm was found at the scene of the incident, as well as other evidence, which were received for scientific and other examinations.

According to the evidence so far, the perpetrators escaped in a luxury vehicle, which was found a little later abandoned in an open area on the coastal road of Zygi. Information in the hands of the investigative team of the TAE Limassol states that the suspects may have fled to the occupied territories. The Police have already informed the roadblocks, as well as the Bicommunal Committee.

The 42-year-old is being treated at the Limassol General Hospital, where he underwent surgery with his health condition being stable and out of danger.
