The Department of Environment is proceeding with the presentation of the environmental impact assessment study for the expansion of the port of Latchi.
According to a relevant announcement by the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous, the Joint Venture “TRITON CONSULTANTS S.A. – I.A.CO Environmental and Water Consultants Ltd” invites to a Public Consultation/Presentation of the Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the expansion of the Port of Latchi, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 11:00 to 14:00 at the Cultural Center of the Municipality.
As stated, the project under consideration, the development body of which is the Cyprus Ports Authority, concerns the expansion of the Port of Latchi with the construction of a new port basin to accommodate 186 additional vessels, through the creation of a new leeward and windward breakwater, as well as new land areas where new building facilities will be created in the future to house the port's administrative services, recreational areas and shops.
The purpose of the public presentation, the announcement adds, is to inform the interested public and local authorities about the main results of the environmental impact assessment study of the project in question. In this context, attendees will be given the opportunity to submit comments and representations about the Project based on the results of the Study that will be presented, so that these will be taken into account in the finalization of the Study and in the project evaluation process.
