More than 112,000 citizens have already downloaded and are using the Digital Citizen app, with the issuance of more than 80,000 Fan Cards marking a new era in the way the sports world of Cyprus interacts with sports authorities. The inclusion of the Fan Card in the application has been a catalyst for the rapid increase in users in the last month and a half, confirming the demand for easy, immediate and digital solutions.
According to official information, in the coming weeks, the application will also offer the possibility of purchasing tickets for sports competitions held in Cyprus and for which a fan card is required. This development is expected to make it even easier for citizens, who will be able to keep both their card and tickets in a single digital environment.
The Digital Citizen is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the digital service of citizens, implemented by the Government through the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy. Through a series of tools and services provided electronically, citizens can now complete procedures without physical presence and hassle, in a minimum of time.
At the same time, the Digital Assistant, the first generative artificial intelligence solution implemented in the Cypriot state, has already answered over 163,000 queries in just 8 months of operation, while this number is increasing daily, with more than 700 questions per day. In fact, during the last quarter, when Tax Issues were added, this topic recorded almost twice the number of questions compared to the rest.
It is recalled that since May, the interoperability of the Digital Citizen with the corresponding Greek application Gov Gr Wallet has been activated, which allows the mutual recognition of documents in Cyprus and Greece.
The effort to digitize the state does not stop here. By the end of 2025, the digitization of more than 70 public services is planned, with the aim of the complete digital transition of citizen-state contact. Already, 40 new services have become operational in 2025, with another 30 on track.
Specifically, to date, 40 new digital services have been implemented, such as:
◗ Online registration of students at all levels of education and the application for student sponsorship
◗ applications for employment of third-country nationals,
◗ Applications for issuance and renewal of identity card and passport, for adults and children, refugee identity card, etc.
◗ Equally important is the electronic management of the compensation process by the National Solidarity Fund, which has so far allowed the payment of compensation to more than 4,500 beneficiaries.
More than 30 more digital services are on track to be implemented by the end of the year. Typical examples:
◗ Electronic Social Insurance applications (such as Parental Leave, Disability Pension, Paternity Allowance, Orphan's Allowance, Widow's Pension, etc.)
◗ Applications of the Provider and Beneficiary for a Tuition Subsidy Scheme for children over the age of 4 years and up to the age limit of free compulsory pre-school education
◗ Settlement Feature:
a) electronic appointments for service at KEP-KEPO, and
b) teleconferencing for the provision of 7 services by KEP/KEPO, without the need for the citizen to go to the KEP in person.
To access digital services, an authenticated account in CY Login is required, with more than 476,000 citizens having already completed the process. Digital identification is the "bridge" to enter all state systems with security and reliability.
The benefit is clearly reflected in the response of citizens: The central government portal gov.cy records over 500,000 visits per month, a number that together with the visits to the linked websites of Ministries and Deputy Ministries exceeds 900,000. Through the portal, citizens have access to information about the activities and work of the Government, find all public services gathered in one central place, while they can be directed to the state websites, which are gradually being redesigned with modern standards.
