The government today activated a new platform for the digital pricing of medicines, with the aim of fully digitizing the process of submitting, reviewing and approving prices and speeding up the issuance of price lists, said the Minister of Health Michalis Damianos.
The platform aims to reduce the administrative burden for pharmaceutical companies, process applications faster and improve real-time monitoring by the Ministry, while eliminating the submission of documents in paper form. As Mr. Damianos mentioned, pricing "is a complex process, a process that requires precision, speed and the setting of a 'fair' price for each pharmaceutical product".
According to the Ministry's announcement, the new application "fully digitizes the pricing process of pharmaceutical products, from submission and review, to approval and preparation of price lists". For companies, he underlined, this means "faster application processing, real-time monitoring and reduced administrative burden", while for the Ministry it allows "more accurate monitoring, greater consistency and better decision-making".
The minister also stressed that with the new system "the submission of documents in paper form is abolished and communication is carried out exclusively through the platform, instead of through letters or e-mail". He added that the platform "will enable more open communication between the Ministry and pharmaceutical companies, helping to eliminate bottlenecks and increase trust in the pricing process."
The Ministry's support teams will inform about the use of the new application and work with companies to ensure a smooth transition. As Mr. Damianos pointed out, "This is a living system and we will continue to improve it based on our experience, but also your comments."
The new digital platform is included in the plan to "ensure fair and timely access to affordable, high-quality medicines", the Ministry says
