Taxpayers finally have until October 15 to file their tax returns, following a new extension announced today by the Tax Department. The original deadline was September 30, a date that had been given after the first extension from the regular deadline of July 31. In statements to state radio, Officer A of the Tax Department, Irini Ioannou, stated that by yesterday, approximately 85,000 individuals had already submitted their tax returns, while another 17,000 had processed them without finalizing them. The submission rate is estimated at around 90% compared to last year. As Ms. Ioannou explained, the obligation to file a tax return concerns individuals with a gross total income of more than €19,500 per year. After the new deadline of October 15, those who do not comply will be charged an administrative fine of €100. In the event that tax is also due, then a 10% charge will be added to the amount and an additional 5% late payment interest from 1/1/2024, until full payment.
