CRIME ROUND UP

 Pafos Live 22 September 2025

Three fires broke out during the night, even in the early hours of the morning, in the rural area between Lysos and Drousia.

The first fire broke out around 8.30 in the evening in a rural area of the village of Goudi, which due to the winds blowing in the area, spread to the villages of Chrysochou and Terra. The fire was extinguished about an hour later, burning wild vegetation and bushes in an area of two hectares.

Before this fire was even extinguished, around 9.30 in the evening a new fire broke out in a rural area of the village of Drouseia, which, however, was extinguished immediately before it spread and before causing any destruction.

In the early hours of the morning, at 2.40 in the morning, a call was received for a new fire in the area of the village of Lysos. Although forces were mobilized from Paphos in order to strengthen the firefighting forces of the forest department and the fire brigade in the area, the fire was also extinguished immediately without the need for reinforcements.

It is obvious, from the hours when the fires occurred, and the choice of the time when the winds blew, that the fires are the work of arsonists.
